Using our quality brass templates, you can make a 3-D pop-up card in just minutes by following these easy instructions.
Required tools: Template, FOLDING AID, knife with #16 blade, cutting pad and removable tape. Swivel Clip, optional
Step 1.
Stamp a design on card stock and fold to form a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (or larger) card. Open the card and place on a cutting pad with the fold (and stamped design) facing up. Center the "POP-UP" template on the fold by placing the notches on the ends of the template on the fold.
Step 1 (cont)
Use removable tape to assist in holding the template firmly in place. Cut along ALL edges around the letters using a #16 blade in your craft knife. (CAUTION: NEVER CUT TOWARDS YOUR FINGERS)

Step 2.
Cutting tips: Always cut from the corner, in both directions. This will assure that you get the corner completely cut. If, after cutting a section, you cannot stab the waste area with your blade and lift it out, you need to check your cutting. (Do not tear out waste area. You want cleanly cut corners and edges).

Step 2 (cont)
You may want to practice cutting on regular paper until you get the feel for the cutting, then switch to card stock. 65# card stock works well. After making a few cuts, check the back of the card stock to make sure you are cutting all the way through.
Step 3.
After cutting is completed, your card should look like this.
Place the template along the bottom of the cut letters. Position the POP-UPs FOLDING AID (or other straight edge not exceeding 5/8" in height, and no thicker than 1/64") under the cut letters and above the outer edges of the card. While holding the template with one hand, push the FOLDING AID up and over with the other (allowing the letters to crease). Do not push on the card, only the FOLDING AID. The FOLDING AID will take the letters with it. Reverse the card and repeat to bend the tops of the letters.
Step 4.
While holding the card as shown above, crease the tops and bottoms of the letters with your thumb and finger. Then place the card on a flat surface and complete the crease with the handle of your knife or bone folder as shown at left.
Finished, cut and folded, inside.
Step 5.
Attach with double sided tape to form the finished pop-up. Tape one side at a time, and be sure the folds are snug before taping into place. (Place the folded outside on the table; then position the inside, with the taped side up, into the fold of the outside. Press the outside down onto the tape.) Turn over and repeat the process.
