Each individual glue dot is about the size of a pin head. There are no strips to have to tear or cut. Just apply the dots and stick. Especially useful when you have those small pieces to glue. Any extra dots can simply be rubbed off of the area where you don't want them (paper, table, etc.). Both products are pictured below.
